Is there a doggy tooth fairy?

Poor Jessie has been at the doctor for dogs this week.
She has a poorly tooth.
Which isn't very good when she is eating her doggy biscuits!
Me and Charlie have saved the tooth and are going to leave it under Jessie's bed tonight to see if the doggy tooth fairy comes......
I wonder what she will leave, money isn't any use to a doggie, maybe a nice doggy treat?
Off to give Jessie a big cuddle as she has a got a tiny bit of a sore mouth, but Steve said she was very brave and didn't cry at all (I taught her everything she knows!)......

Crickey Charlie!

Me and Charlie have just had our first swim of the year- yippee!
Well when I say swim it was more of a rush in, splash about rush out.... Bbbbbrrrrrrrrrrrr!
Well it certainly isn't Australia temperatures yet
But now we're having lovely steaming hot chocolates with marshmallows on too - yummy!
Off to slurp my chocolate while my flippers thaw out......

No so good with other dogs?

Well me and Charlie started doggie classes with Jessie.
Mandy and Steve said that we have to make sure we know how to train her properly
She's very good at sitting and she sometimes even comes back when we call her (especially if we've got a tasty treat! Me and Charlie like treats, do you?)
The thing that she's not so good at is making friends with other dogs.
She's great with platypuses, teddy bears and people but she hasn't really got any doggy friends.
Aaahhhh poor Jessie I don't think the other doggies like it when she barks too loudly at them!
Well, when we got to the doggy class Jessie barked, then all the other doggies barked - ooh what a noise!
Then all of the other doggies stopped, but Jessie went on and on and on.....
The nice lady running the class came over and squirted water at Jessie with a water pistol.
Jessie stopped barking straight away, cooooool!
She gave me the water pistol and said that if Jessie barked again to squirt her.
Well she barked so I squirted her.....and then i,got a bit excited and squirted and squirted and squirted.....
Poor Jessie's little face was dripping wet.
Charlie is in charge of the water pistol now.......

Dog lick!

As you all know me and Charlie have a dog called Jessie that we have been training with cheese.
We think that someone has been training her secretly......
We think that someone has been training her to get you up in the morning by licking you on the cheek! Urghhhh my cheek is wet with dog lick!!!
Mind you it did wake me up pretty quickly.
Steve said that Jessie wasn't allowed in the bedrooms.
When me and Charlie went to bed I hid her under my quilt so that she could sleep on the bottom of my bed!
Charlie said that was naughty, but I really wanted to snuggle with Jessie - its like having a hot water bottle in the bed with you!
What I wasn't expecting was being covered in dog lick in the morning. She gets very excited in the morning just before her morning walk.
Well I'm off to wash the dog lick off my cheeks, and everywhere else......

Can you write your name?

Can you write your own name?
Well I can!
I've  just had my first day at the Cambridge School for Bears.
It was very exciting, even if I was a bit scared at first.
Steve has written all about it in the first book where I am the star instead of Harold! It's called Charlie's first day at school.
I can't wait to see the first books that come back from the printer, with my name on the cover in big letters. The drawings are really cool. Fran, one of my friends, has done some great pictures of me.
Off to wait for the postman.....

"Don't pull the plug out Harold!"!

"Don't pull the plug out Harold", I shouted. But it was too late! Me and Harold were playing down at the beach, when we found what looked like a giant plug. (You know like the ones that you get in the bath). As usual Harold was desperate to fiddle with it, but it looked a bit dangerous to me. The next thing I knew he had pulled it out! Just then the sea water started to disappear! But Harold hadn't noticed, his tummy had started to rumble and he had wandered off to find a cheese and pickle sandwich. Oh no! I tried to put the plug back but it didn't make any difference, the water was still disappearing. I sat down next the the plug and cried. No more days by the sea licking our ice lollies, while wiggling our toes/flippers in the water, booooooooo! Just then Mandy came to find me for lunch. I explained the whole sorry tale to her. She said I was a silly little bear, as she gave me a big hug, it had all been a huge coinkydink(coincidence for those that can say it). The tide just happened to be starting to go out at the same time as Harold pulled the plug, phew! So the water will be back again later. I best check - hopefully while I'm eating and ice lolly and wiggling my toes in the water! Best go before Harold realises I'm writing on his blog! Charlie Xx

World Book Day at St Luke's

Last week was very special as it contained World Book Day. To help celebrate this, Steve went along to visit all the children at St Luke's school in Duston. It sounds like he had a fantastic time and everyone had lots of fun. St Luke's have got great names for their classes such as Ladybirds and Bumblebees. How cool is that???
Some of the children worked on a character for the new Charlie books. I've only just started looking through these but there are lots of great ideas and lots of wonderful pictures of what the new character might look like. There are pictures of owls, pandas, rabbits, cats, a giraffe and even several bin weevils! Mandy especially likes the butterfly called Sparkle and I liked Sophie the koala as she comes from Australia like I do!
Some of the other children were very helpful with ideas of what Charlie might do on his first day at school. It looks like Charlie might have some surprises as he trips over his tie or falls in a muddy puddle! Everyone agreed, however, that he has a fun first day at school and makes lots of new friends.
In the afternoon, Steve visited some of the other classes and read my new book 'Harold Wins Gold'. This was the first time anyone had heard this story! I hope everyone liked it and all of Molly's fab pictures.
I must go now and continue looking through all the drawings and story boards.

Bonfire night

I love bonfire night!
I had a great idea to strap Charlie to a rocket, so that he could last off into space. He didn't get the chance to go into space in my last adventure 'Harold in space' where I went onto the space shuttle (www.haroldtheplatypus.co.uk).
So, we went outside into the garden. I had some string and the rocket. I tied Charlie to the rocket, and we were all ready to go. But oh no how do we make the rocket go? "Matches" Charlie shouted. "I don't think we are allowed matches", I said. "That's exactly right", said Mandy, "what are you two up to?"
"Untie Charlie straight away please", said Mandy. "You must be super careful with fireworks they can be very dangerous. They are not made for launching little bears into space!" Charlie thinks he'll never get into space. Maybe we'll have to go back to the Houston Space Centre when they start selling my book - Harold In space!
Off to right our names in the air with super dooper sparklers and a cheese and pickle sandwich before bed!

The saddest day of the year

Me and Charlie have just had the saddest day of the year. Mandy is still trying to stop Charlie from crying (he's a big softy)
We've had to pack up the beach hut today - boooooo hoo!
It's the last real day of the summer. We love the summer - ice creams and swimming every day it's great.
We've dusted all the sand off everything - which took absolutely ages. It's amazing sand gets in places we didn't even know we had!
Well back home now. No more beach until next year.
I'll have to go and find something lovely for me and Charlie to do, to cheer Charlie up. I know we can do some colouring in, we love colouring in. Steve has got some super pictures of me and Charlie to colour in. Maybe he'll put them onto the interweb for us. (He's been doing that for some of my fans!)
