Possibly my biggest fan?

Yesterday at West Wickhams' Christmas fair Steve met someone who could well be my biggest fan.
Emma Louise already had four of my books. She persuaded her dad to buy the last three, so she now has a full set!
Steve was about to tell what happens in my latest adventure Harold the Pirate but was told not to spoil it as she was looking forward to reading it herself!!!
I think Emma Louise might be a famous author herself when she grows up, as she has come up with lots of ideas of adventures for me.
What do you think about Harold the Time Travelling Platypus???
Got to go, just thought of some more ideas for my Christmas list.......

Dino bear.......

Dino bear
Steve has been asked to write a new book about dinosaurs...... So me and Charlie have decided to find about them.
There are lots of different kinds and they all have funny names that can be a bit tricky to say. My favourite is Tyrannosaurus rex.
Steve is going to take us to dinosaur world so that we can all find out more about dinosaurs to help with the new book. Maybe when we go I will call myself H Rex and Charlie could be Dino Bear????
We're so excited, we'll both have to practise our big ROARs
I wonder what other cool things dinosaurs got up to.....

Why do doggies wag their tail?

Why do doggies wag their tails?
I nearly got knocked over the other day by Jessie wagging her tail.
I asked Mandy why Jessie wags her tail so much (I think she must have the waggiest tail in the world) Mandy says they wag their tails when they are happy....
I'm not so sure. I don't wag my tail when I'm happy and poor Charlie hasn't even got a tail!
But I hope it is true because that would make Jessie one of the happiest dogs in the world :)

Jessie's birthday....

Jessie's birthday
We've had  our doggie Jessie a year today!
We love her so much we can't remember what life was like before we had her.
Me and Charlie wanted to get a Colin the Caterpillar cake (we all have yummy Colin the Caterpillar cakes when it's our birthdays), but Mandy said chocolate can make doggies poorly...... So we are going to have secret Colin the Caterpillar cake for us, whoopee! and a cake made out of doggie biscuits for Jessie.

Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear Jessie, happy birthday to you. Hip, hip, hooray for Jessie!

Country fair....

Today we all went to a country fair.
There were lots of things to do and loads of people there. I had hoped to meet some other platypuses but there were none there.
There was a doggie competition though so I entered Jessie.
We had to walk around the competition ring and do some tricks, like the ones we do at puppy training classes.
We won two rosettes!
Well when I say we I really mean me!
Jessie was so happy she give me a big wet lick on the face - yuck!
I said to the man judging the competition that next year they should have a competition for the best platypus at the show........

David's playing bottom!

Did I mention in a previous blog that I now have an audio book?
Well just in case I didn't "I've got an audio book!"
Well the nice man, (David to his friends... He's a famous actor you know!) recorded two of my adventures onto a lovely shiny disc that Mandy can play in the car when we are on a long journey.
Well, Mandy and Steve were talking about an article written about my actor friend, it said "David Gurney's Bottom was excellent".
Well how rude.....
Mandy explained Bottom was the name of the character David was playing.
Charlie thought he must have been playing the back end of a pantomime horse!
Mandy explained that Bottom was the name of the character David was playing in a Midsummer nights dream a Shakespeare play. I wonder whether there are any platypuses in any of his plays???
He's now off to play Sherlock Holmes at the Edinburgh festival
It's a mystery where he gets the time...
Off to find out if Hamlet was a platypus...

Are we getting a gold postbox?

Me and Charlie have been watching the Anniversary Games today at the Olympic park.
Charlie said that he wondered, now that Jessie had won two rosettes in the doggie competition, whether we would be getting a gold postbox in the village (like the gold medal winners did at the Olimpets).
Silly Charlie!
That reminds me they seem to have forgotten to paint our postbox gold after I won my medal for swimming super fast last year at World Sports Day.....
Off to find some gold paint...

My trip to Oakland's school

Me and Steve were invited to Oakland's school by my great friend Theo.
We had a great day visiting all the classes and reading some of my adventures to the children. Both me and Steve were exhausted by the end of a great day!
I'm sure everyone will enjoy reading my adventures over the summer holidays
I hope all my new friends at Oakland's have great fun in the last couple of days at school
See you all again soon. I've got to go now and hurry Steve along with writing my new adventure Harold the Pirate - I'm really looking forward to reading that one!

My visit to Hatton Park school.....

Last week me and Steve had a very exciting trip to visit the boys and girls in Dragonfly class.
They've been eagerly awaiting the new book, Harold the Pirate, but Steve hasn't finished it yet. So we thought we'd pop along to the school to read them some of my adventure stories.
Imagine my surprise when I realised Dragonfly class had adopted my cousin who is also called Harold! He also has a best friend that is a teddy bear called Charlie (I think he is copying me!).
I don't see many platypuses so it was great to see another one, especially one called Harold!
I hope Dragonfly class will look after him and Charlie, you never know me and Steve might come back again to check!
The boys and girls were very excited as its nearly the start of their summer holidays. I hope they will be reading lots of books (especially ones about me) over the summer and who knows they may even write a new adventure story about me!
Happy holidays to all my new friends at Hatton Park school and good luck to Miss Thorne at her new school.
See you soon

I'm being really kind to Steve!!

It was my birthday in the week but I have agreed with Mandy that I will wait until its Steve's birthday for my party so that we can share.
Secretly I'm hoping that all Steve's friends will buy me a present as well as my own - what a fab way to double up on presents!! Mandy has already promised me another present for delaying my party.....
I am hoping that the weather will be good so that we can have a super day on the beach, with lots of swimming and yummy ice creams, not to mention opening presents, lots and lots of presents; and oh I forgot birthday cake. I love birthday cake..... Mmmmmmmmmmmmm!

Have you seen the advert with the platypus?

Me and Charlie were watching the telly the other day when the adverts came on.
We normally fast forward through them but Charlie noticed that there was an advert with a platypus in it!

http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=L3D9l4GB8HM&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DL3D9l4GB8HM

When we watched it we realised it was one of my cousins.
He's not as funny and good lucking as me, which makes me wonder why they didn't ask me to do the advert!!!
And, and did you see Jessie sat on the side watching my cousin.
Poor Charlie is nearly as jealous as me that we weren't in it!
Good watching, go go you platypuses
Off to speak to my cousins agent.....

Is there a doggy tooth fairy?

Poor Jessie has been at the doctor for dogs this week.
She has a poorly tooth.
Which isn't very good when she is eating her doggy biscuits!
Me and Charlie have saved the tooth and are going to leave it under Jessie's bed tonight to see if the doggy tooth fairy comes......
I wonder what she will leave, money isn't any use to a doggie, maybe a nice doggy treat?
Off to give Jessie a big cuddle as she has a got a tiny bit of a sore mouth, but Steve said she was very brave and didn't cry at all (I taught her everything she knows!)......

Crickey Charlie!

Me and Charlie have just had our first swim of the year- yippee!
Well when I say swim it was more of a rush in, splash about rush out.... Bbbbbrrrrrrrrrrrr!
Well it certainly isn't Australia temperatures yet
But now we're having lovely steaming hot chocolates with marshmallows on too - yummy!
Off to slurp my chocolate while my flippers thaw out......

Tracking Jessie

Mandy says Jessie is a minx! When she sees something exciting to chase, like a rabbit, she rushes off and doesn't listen to any of us calling her back - naughty doggie!
Mandy and Steve say that Jessie must be a bit like me and Charlie - something called selective deafness?.....
Anyway back to the naughty doggie. We have bought her a GPS. Yes that's right like the ones you get in the car!
Mandy says that means they will be watching her from space! Cooooool!
We've attached it to her collar so if she rushes off again we'll know where to look for her.
How exciting our doggie being tracked by satellites in space - Jessie in space......
That reminds me of my adventure at NASA you can read about that in Harold in Space!
I've just had a scary thought..... I hope Mandy doesn't get me and Charlie to carry one of these GPS in our backpacks.... I don't want her to know everywhere me and Charlie go... especially when we're having an adventure!
Off to see where Jessie is.......

Chocolate Christmas

Sorry I'm so late wishing you all Happy Easter, but me and Charlie have only just escaped from under the biggest pile of Easter eggs you've ever seen.
We've had to eat out way out obviously!
We're a bit confused. On Sunday Steve said that the clocks were changing this weekend.
Me and Charlie have checked all of the clocks in the house and they're all the same! Storage, eh!
I'm sure we will figure it out soon....... after we've finished all our eggs!

Saturday 23 March 2013

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

When me and Charlie woke up this morning it was white everywhere. Charlie said that it must be nearly Christmas.
I'm not sure, Santa hasn't been in touch and Stanley looks very relaxed at the moment.
(Stanley is one of Santa's reindeer so Christmas is a really busy time for him. The rest of the year he hangs around with me and Charlie)
Charlie says if it looks like Christmas and it smells like Christmas (Steve did have turkey in his sandwiches at lunchtime....) then it must be Christmas.
Panic!!!
I haven't written my list, better get on with it...

What a horrible day....

When me and Charlie woke up this morning we could hear tap, tap of rain on the window
Yuck! What a cold, wet day.
I don't mind warm, wet days but not cold, wet days
We went downstairs to get our breakfast. Steve and Mandy were already out in the garden fiddling about with some plants.
Jessie was just sat at the door watching
Charlie thought Jessie wanted to go outside so he opened the door for her. She just sat there and thought 'I wouldn't send a human out in that never mind a dog!'
So we all stayed in and had yummy toast and watched Steve and Mandy out of the window.....

Jessie hair cut

Mandy said that Jessie was getting a bit wispy.... I think she means that she needs a hair cut.
She decided to have a go at giving Jessie a haircut last night with a comb and a pair of scissors.
Boy, I'm glad Steve always insists that me and Charlie go to the barbers to have our fur tidied up....
Me and Charlie have had a little look on the interweb and there are hairdressers for doggies. I think we should take her before Mandy has another go.....

World book day

I'm sure you all know its been World Book Day this week. Me and Charlie love World Book Day.
At Charlie's school, the Cambridge School for Bears, they dress up as their favourite character from their favourite book.
Can you guess what Charlie went to school dressed as?
Me of course! As I am the star of the Harold and Charlie adventure stories.
Mandy had to ask her friend Auntie D to make a lovely platypus costume for Charlie.
He looked really cooooool! Or Awesome sauce! (we've been listening to Zoe on Radio 2 this week on the way to school).
Off to find out how many other people dressed up as me on World Book Day.....

Can you touch the sky?

At the weekend we all went to see Steve and Mandy's two nieces, Ella and Isabelle.
It's both of their birthdays in March and they got a trampoline!
I love bouncing on trampolines
My big thick tail is really good for bouncing. I can bounce way higher than Charlie (of  course!).
I was bouncing so high I could nearly touch the sky! Cooooool eh!
Off to see if I can persuade Mandy to get a trampoline for me and Charlie.......

No so good with other dogs?

Well me and Charlie started doggie classes with Jessie.
Mandy and Steve said that we have to make sure we know how to train her properly
She's very good at sitting and she sometimes even comes back when we call her (especially if we've got a tasty treat! Me and Charlie like treats, do you?)
The thing that she's not so good at is making friends with other dogs.
She's great with platypuses, teddy bears and people but she hasn't really got any doggy friends.
Aaahhhh poor Jessie I don't think the other doggies like it when she barks too loudly at them!
Well, when we got to the doggy class Jessie barked, then all the other doggies barked - ooh what a noise!
Then all of the other doggies stopped, but Jessie went on and on and on.....
The nice lady running the class came over and squirted water at Jessie with a water pistol.
Jessie stopped barking straight away, cooooool!
She gave me the water pistol and said that if Jessie barked again to squirt her.
Well she barked so I squirted her.....and then i,got a bit excited and squirted and squirted and squirted.....
Poor Jessie's little face was dripping wet.
Charlie is in charge of the water pistol now.......

happy new year, ssssshhhhhh!

Me and Charlie have been running around the house this morning wishing everyone "HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!"
Don't know why, we woke up extra early this morning........
Mandy and Steve don't seem very happy about the new year.
Steve said they were doing lots of celebrating last night and that we mustn't shout.
Mandy said they had a 24 hour flu! Not sure about that, the flu always seems to follow a "big celebration"????

Happy new year!!! - that should be quiet enough for them!

Lots of love
